Samantha Bland
Samantha uses a person-centered approach, considering the needs and abilities of each individual at every session, whether it is in the pool, in the gym or out in the community. Samantha is passionate about educating patients, and providing each person an environment that allows them to step out of their comfort zone in a safe and supported way. This enables each individual to find or re-discover their passions and to experience new activities and adventures with the ultimate goal of thriving in their lives.
Samantha graduated with a Bachelor of Science – Recreation (Therapeutic) in 2013 from Dalhousie University. She has worked in Long-Term Care and Retirement Living facilities, as a Community Recreation Therapist providing respite support to families and has operated her own Recreation Therapy business in Ontario providing Recreation Therapy to her local community.
With an extensive background in Aquatics and training in various methods of Aquatic Therapy, Samantha has been providing Aquatic Therapy to patients since 2010. She began by providing accessible swimming lessons which lead to supporting individuals with disabilities and those recovering from Motor Vehicle Accidents through Aquatic Therapy. For the last 3 years, she has worked providing Aquatic Therapy services through health centres, assisting in patients’ rehabilitation journey.
When Samantha is not working, she enjoys spending time at the barn with her horse, being active through strength training, hiking, walking, cycling, skating, or being outside with her family. Samantha loves to read and bake and can often be found spending time at the rink or the dance studio/competitions cheering on her children.
