To our valued patients, friends, and community members –
I am writing today to share some big things happening at The Disc Clinic with you. After many meaningful years, I have made the decision to take a step back from ownership of the Portland St. Clinic. The Disc Clinic (Portland St.) is joining the Choice Health Centre community, led by their CEO, Dr. Nick Stryniak.
Dr. Nick and I are both graduates of New York Chiropractic College and have known each other for over 10 years. From our extensive conversations, I feel confident that he respects what has been built here and understands what the culture of The Disc Clinic is all about. As YOU know, it is an environment of healing built through years of care, connection, and trust between patients, providers, and staff. As a locally owned clinic group, Choice Health Centre has a strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence, and is ideally positioned to keep building on what we have grown here.
As a patron of our clinic, you are likely to meet Ryan Young, who will be stepping in as the new Centre Director. Ryan is a Registered Massage Therapist with over 20 years of experience. Ryan currently lives nearby in Dartmouth, and brings a thoughtful, patient-centred approach to leadership without compromising support for our colleagues. He and I have had excellent collaborative conversations that are in sync with my values and philosophies and I know he will do an incredible job.
You may be wondering what this means for you. Please be assured that throughout this transition, the most important people are our cherished patients and clients, and the continuity of your care is our priority. The things that matter most are staying the same. There is no change to our phone number, location, website, clinic address, scheduled appointments, and especially the care plans already in place. In time, there will be broader multidisciplinary care options, technological advances, and patient centred resources available to support your mission to Thrive.
You will continue to see the same familiar faces; Leigha, Rose, and Tracey will still be answering your calls, greeting you when you arrive, and continuing to make your experience what you have come to expect – thoughtful, focused, and personalized care. You can continue to put your trust in Emma and Rae-Leigh; Chelsea and Jessi-Lee will be continuing on maternity leave.
As for me, I will continue providing my regular care and schedule at the clinic, including coverage while Dr. Chelsea remains on maternity leave. As we move through this transition in the months ahead, your continuity of care remains very important to me, and any future updates about my schedule or role will be communicated clearly and thoughtfully.
The heart of The Disc Clinic is not changing. The relationships, routines, and care experience you know are deeply valued, and they will continue to guide how we move forward. Nick and Ryan will be organizing an open house and will be reaching out soon with more details. In the meantime, I would be happy to discuss this with you during your next appointment when I see you in the practice. I am very grateful for the trust you have placed in me and in this team over the years. That trust means a great deal, and it is something that Nick, Ryan, myself and staff across the Choice Health Center network will continue to honour with care and intention.

Dear patients,
I want to take a moment to introduce myself and share how grateful I am to be part of this next chapter for The Disc Clinic. I am a Chiropractor, a clinic owner, and someone who understands how much trust, consistency, and familiar relationships matter in health care. Dr. Marc and the team have built something very special here. It is clear that The Disc Clinic has earned the trust of its patients through strong relationships, thoughtful care, and a deep commitment to helping people feel supported in their health and wellness.
As The Disc Clinic becomes part of the Choice Health Centre community, my priority is to honour what already exists here. This is not about replacing the care experience you know. It is about supporting it, strengthening it, and helping the team continue doing what they do so well. This next chapter brings the opportunity for The Disc Clinic to be supported by a larger collaborative clinic community, as The Disc Clinic will be our 5th location in the HRM.
At Choice Health Centre, we believe patients receive the best care when they are supported by strong, collaborative teams. We are looking forward to bringing additional resources, knowledge, and support to The Disc Clinic, while preserving the familiar relationships and trusted care that matter most.
